What does it mean to be a Christian

The word “Christian” is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). Followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. The word “Christian” literally means, “belonging to the party of Christ” or a “follower of Christ.”

How to become a follower of Christ

You are not a Christian because you were born in a Christian home, were baptized, go to church, or followed someone in a prayer.
  • Recognize your sinfulness before a Holy God (sin is breaking God’s law. Sin is things like lying, stealing, etc.

  • Recognize that your sin has caused a separation between you and God

  • You must believe that Jesus is the only way to God

  • Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins because Jesus has the authority to forgive you of your sins

  • Turn away from your sin, put your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior

Then read the Bible and obey it. Find a good church to help you grow. And tell others the GOOD NEWS!
